With today's businesses focused on bottom-line profitability, executives are
giving Voice
over IP a second look. By converging existing voice and data networks onto a
single
IP-based network, businesses can significantly reduce their telecommunications
costs.
Gafachi Communications, a privately held communications carrier, provides an
IP-based
backbone network for voice convergence. Together with Multi-Tech's MultiVOIP
Voice
over IP gateway, the solution provides significant savings on inter- and
intra-country calling
costs.
To utilize the Gafachi VoIP Network, a business simply connects their existing
phones
and/or PBX to a MultiVOIP Voice over IP gateway. The MultiVOIP gateway resides
on the
company's data network and allows calls to travel over the Gafachi VoIP Network
providing
a significant cost savings. The Gafachi proprietary Softswitch provides
customers
connectivity to the PSTN utilizing its own local and long haul private
transport. Calls
are first sent to Gafachi via the Internet, where they are then carried over the
Gafachi
Network to the PSTN and on to any phone anywhere in the world.
Placing calls utilizing MultiVOIP and the Gafachi VoIP Network is like using
your existing
phone system. MultiVOIP simply plugs into the data network and will interface
with any
phone system to provide real-time, toll-quality voice connections over the
Gafachi VoIP
Network. Users dial standard phone numbers to reach their destinations.
In addition, the MultiVOIP gateway and the Gafachi VoIP Network both support
T.38 fax, the protocol used to send faxes over the IP network. Many VoIP
carriers currently support only the G.711 method of fax. While successful
faxing is possible by these means, it is not very reliable.
"The Gafachi VoIP service, coupled with MultiVOIP gateways, provides
any size business with a secure, reliable, quality and cost-saving VoIP
solution," explains Tom Cague, Director of Business Development for
Gafachi Communications. "We look forward to recommending MultiVOIP
gateways to our customers as the solution is clearly a leader in the VoIP
space, offers the features we are looking for to accommodate the many needs
of our customers, and has successfully been tested with the Gafachi Network."
